At the Amesbury Abbey Group you will quickly notice the many benefits of choosing a company that is still owned and run by the children of the original founder. The passion that drove Mary Cornelius-Reid AM MBE to create her first Nursing Home in 1972 has been passed on to us all and is clearly visible in everything we do. You will notice that a large number of our managers and employees have been part of the business for many years, some over 30, making our team a true extension of the family in every respect and ensuring that the loving care and attention to detail, upon which Mary established the Group, endures.
Dr. Rosemary Reid
Rosemary is the eldest of the Cornelius-Reid 2nd generation and is a practicing Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Her early interest in healthcare was stimulated by helping out within the nursing homes, involved in each of the early steps in their establishment. Her own children are in their teens and increasingly independent, which has allowed her to become progressively more active in the development of the family business; most recently becoming Chairman of the Amesbury Abbey Group. In addition to chairing monthly board meetings, Rosemary is a regular visitor to Group operations in the UK and Portugal and has responsibility for ongoing Group strategy.
Having been born at Winton House, the location of the Group’s first nursing home in Hampshire, Naomi has grown up with and been involved in the company all her life. Naomi has a wealth of experience having undertaken various roles within the Group, from front of house to facilities management and everything in between. She is absolutely passionate about the family business and now sits on the board as Managing Director, having overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Amesbury Abbey Group businesses in the UK and Portugal. Naomi is also the nominated individual, as required by the Care Quality Commission, for each of the Group’s registered operations.
David has been involved in the family business from its very start in 1972. As a teenager, he could be found around Winton helping out where ever he could with the maintenance of the building. Today, David has operational responsibility for the UK homes and in addition sits on the Group board. Although based at Amesbury Abbey, he divides his time between each Group location and is a familiar face to all our residents. David holds an NVQ4 Registered Managers Award for care homes and has significant involvement with the Group’s extensive workforce. In his spare time, he is a semi professional photographer and has recently successfully exhibited his work.
Amesbury Abbey Nursing Home
Generoso brings a wealth of care management and leadership expertise to the Group, having been managing care homes successfully and to the highest standards since entering the sector in 2006. Generoso's extensive experience includes qualifications across a spectrum of care disciplines, including an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, a Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership as well as Gold Standard Framework end of life care accreditation. With a keen eye for relationships, efficiency and best practice, Generoso became Home Manager for Amesbury Abbey in early 2016.
Sutton Manor Nursing Home
Kamala has been part of the Amesbury Abbey Group for 13 years, including 11 as a Registered General Nurse. She gained considerable experience at both Winchester and Salisbury Hospitals, in conjunction with her initial duties within the Group, before moving to a full time role for 2 years as Deputy Manager at Winton House, followed by 3 further years as Registered Manager. Kamala took up her role as Manager at Sutton Manor in the Summer of 2012.
Winton House Nursing Home
Louisa has worked as an RGN for more than 20 years and since qualifying has dedicated her career to the care of the elderly working within several nursing homes, primarily in the role of Deputy Manager. Louisa joined the Amesbury Abbey Group in July 2012, initially as a Sister at Winton House before taking on the role of Deputy Manager prior to her promotion to the position of Registered Manager in 2013.
Group Housekeeping Services Manager, Amesbury Abbey Group
James joined Amesbury Abbey in 2006, initially as the Group Head Chef before promotion to Group Housekeeping Services Manager/Catering Manager. He initially trained at Guildford Technical College before moving to Zurich, Switzerland to gain experience. He has since held the post of Catering Manager / Director's Chef for Lloyds Abbey Life, before moving from London to Andover to set up and run a Restaurant in Clanville, then start a business running a busy kitchen with a brigade of 5 chefs. James' extensive restaurant experience ensures an exceptionally high quality of catering across the Group.
Finance Manager, Amesbury Abbey Group
Sally rejoined the Amesbury Abbey Group as Finance Manager in April 2016 bringing with her a wealth of experience having worked in finance for over 30 years. Previous roles include Financial Accountant for a multi-national electronics company and Financial Controller for a local charity. Sally has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance office & producing management and statutory accounts; she has a keen eye for detail and improving systems and processes.
Head of Sales, Amesbury Abbey Group
Teresa joined the Amesbury Abbey Group in March 2008 and is based at Sutton Manor. Teresa is Head of Sales within the Amesbury Abbey Group. Teresa will be your first contact when making an initial enquiry, whether by phone or e-mail, ensuring that you gain all the assistance and support you require.
Training and Quality Manager, Amesbury Abbey Group
Louise has worked within the Health & Social care sector for 21 years, beginning work with the Amesbury Abbey Group in 1994. Encouraged by Mary Cornelius-Reid, Louise commenced further training, including N.V.Q’s in care, assessing & various teaching & people management qualifications, leading to Louise taking up the post of Group Training Manager in 2006.
